Christmas linocut workshop - 24th November Norwich
Wednesday 24th November 2021
Studio 20, Norwich, Norfolk
6pm - 9.30pm
In this festive workshop you'll learn step-by-step how to make your own linocut Christmas cards!
You’ll begin by drawing your own festive design or using one of the designs provided and transferring it onto your block.
You can choose between creating a repeating design using rubber block or a solid design using a linocut block.
As a group we’ll then go through the stages of carving, inking and printing your block either by hand or using a small press. There will be two printing presses available to use, as well as several barens and wooden spoons.
All tools and materials are provided. The workshop is very hands-on, with everything explained in demonstrations as you go along, in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.
At the end of your workshops you'll leave with your linocut or rubber block and x10 Christmas cards (and matching brown kraft envelopes).
What do I need to bring to the workshop?
An apron is advised to protect clothes from ink
A kettle and tea and coffee are available but I ask you to please bring your own mug or flask
A packed lunch/food if you require it (lunch/dinner are not provided)
Christmas spirit! Carols and minced pies provided.
The workshop is located at Studio 20 in Norwich. The full address is 20 Wensum Street, Norwich, Norfolk, NR3 1HY. Monastery car park is located close to the Studio. There are cheaper alternative car parks a little further away from the venue at Colegate car park and St. Saviours Lane car park.
Participants will be spread out in the studio to allow for social distancing. This workshop is not suitable for children.
No previous experience is necessary, this is a workshop for the complete linocut beginner.
Friendly and patient teaching by a linocut printmaker with small class sizes of up to six people.
I will have several examples of my own linocut prints as well as several reference books on linocut printing to look at. Cancellation and refund is allowed if given 2 weeks notice.
